Jan. 11, 2013 – National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA), the governing body of NCAA Equestrian, has some exciting competitions coming up. In an effort to advance the NCAA sport of Equestrian NCEA is making strides to connect directly to the Equestrian Community. In an effort to reach the horse community and spread the excitement, NCEA has submerged their competitions into regular season shows and venues. Here are some upcoming events:

  • Winter Equestrian Festival Collegiate Equitation Challenge, February 8th, 2013, Palm Beach, Florida: 24 schools will meet in Ocala, Florida at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, to compete on privately owned horses. This is a true test of every horsewoman’s skills while they compete on neutral ground, on a privately owned horse provided by exhibitors, against another NCAA rider. Come catch the action!
  • AQHA World Show Horsemanship Challenge, November 2012, Oklahoma City, OK- This event will be hosted annually by The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) at its Show in Oklahoma City in November. First round of this competition is hosted in IHSA format and graduates to NCEA format in the final rounds, in addition to having riders from both Club and NCEA teams are represented. Riders are mounted on a privately owned horse provided by exhibitors, on a neutral site with Officials hired by AQHA. 2012 was the inaugural year of this event and Carey Nowacek from Texas A&M University took the title.
